The Burningmoore Deaths (or The Burningmoore Incident as it is also known) stars former Queensryche singer Geoff Tate as serial killer James Parrish, a man who suddenly snapped one day and killed his wife and three children.

Parrish turns up in a derelict building, captured on static cameras as a home improvement company film a pilot renovation program after purchasing the building, and the blood starts to flow.

It’s a strange mashup, purporting to ‘found footage’ of a real event, combining the sensibility of a reality television show, yet matching the jagged shards of this gruesome killing spree with a soundtrack. Overall, The Burningmoore Deaths feels like co-writer/director Jonathan Williams stretched himself a little thin as he doesn’t quite pull it all off successfully. The film might have actually been better as a scripted horror movie, in fact – but perhaps the found footage option was easier to raise the funds for?

The Burningmoore Deaths will still be popular, especially with those who like this kind of thing, and with fans of Queensryche and their legendary, eccentric former frontman and creative force, who plays to his loopy reputation with a creepy, murderous performance.
